Guiseley C of E school May Queen, Joanne Bishop was ready to start the balloon race along with other young visitors to the school fair.

Seaman Gunner Charles Edward Bedford A.B. nephew of Mr and Mrs Chas Bedford, New Wellington Road, Ilkley, took part in Battle of Jutland serving on” HMS Warrior”. The ship was badly damaged and subjected to an inferno of fire. Out of a crew of 700, sixty six were killed and forty three injured. The engine room was full of water and the steering had gone. It was taken in tow and the crew had to take to the boats after which the “Warrior” slowly sank and the crew were picked up by a passing Cunard ship.

Bradford Whit Walk .Over fifty competitors.It started at Tyrrel Street in Bradford at 12.15pm so as to allow the winner to reach Peel Park Gala at 6.30pm.The course was just over 31 miles around Shipley, Burley, Ilkley, Denton Park, Otley and Yeadon Moor.
