YOUNGSTERS enjoyed fun in the sun in the days when Otley still had its open air swimming pool. The photograph, from the archives of the Wharfedale Observer, is undated. But judging by the swimming costumes it may well have been taken in the 1950s.

Old memories will also be brought back to the fore with this photograph, from Aireborough Historical Society, showing the demolition of the Peacock Hotel in Yeadon in 1992.

Archivist Carlo Harrison said: "Workmen can be seen stripping off the roof tiles for recycling, a sign announces the site for sale. A number of apartments were built on the site and addressed as Peacock Court."

He said the picture would bring back memories of family times, live music, and the landlord and landlady Mr and Mrs Turps. The pub was a magnet for young people for four decades.
