A QUIRKY quiz drew in the crowds and raised more than £300 for charity.

On its third run out this unpredictable Quiz attracted its largest group of participants ever - 104 in 18 imaginatively named teams, including Hallmarks, Hasbeens, Six under par and Golf Mudders, West End School, Belle Vue School and Martin House Yeadon team.

Rotary spokesman Robert Mirfield said five teams had been made up of 30 guests who were cajoled into entering by Brian and Carol Hall.

He added: "In a tense picture round finale of Famous Yorkshire people - living and dead the Wilmot Andy's Son team (pictured) triumphed by the small margin of four points from the Sons of the Alecarts. The Decorators each left with a choice of wooden spoon or spatula.

"Special thanks went to question setters Philip Livesey, Doreen Hodgson, Janet Kerr and Robert Mirfield with Philip also taking on the role of all knowing Question Master and handling the temperamental microphone with aplomb.

"President Tony Scaife closed the evening by thanking each and every one who attended an event which would contribute more than £300 to the Club's funds for supporting local and international charities."

The quiz was the brainchild of Aireborough Rotary's Thursday Group - the Nomads,
