WINNERS of the Menston and Burley Young Writer of the Year and Young Poet of the Year will be announced at Menston Summer Fair on Saturday.
More than 50 pupils from primary schools in Menston, Burley, Burley Woodhead and Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley submitted entries to the competition, being run by writer's club Writing on the Wharfe.
Eight judges, including both professional and amateur writers, decided the two winners, who will each receive a trophy with their name engraved on it, to be held for a year. They will also each receive a prize to keep. All entrants will receive a certificate.
Winners will be announced following the opening of the fair, by Look North presenter Charlotte Leeming, in the main tent in the grounds of Menston Primary School at 2pm. Presentations of trophies, prizes and certificates will be at 3.30pm, also in the main tent.
The trophies have been made by Menston wood craftsman Adam Cockerill from burr elm and yew. The two prizes have been made by Burley graphic artist and book illustrator, Kelly McCarthy-Wright.
