MENSTON Musicians for Refugees held a charity night on July 9 at the Menstone Club to raise money for Wharfedale Refugee Response (WRR).

Twenty-five musicians and singers from the Menston area took part, comprising 16 acts, performing for an audience of nearly 100. Each act performed two songs. The youngest performer was aged 15, with ages ranging up to the mid-60s. There was also the father of a Kaiser Chief band member in attendance.

The evening proved so popular people had to be turned away. A total of £779 was raised for the charity, helped by a raffle with items donated by local businesses and individuals.

WRR will donate the money to War Child, a charity that provides life-changing support to the most vulnerable children whose families, communities and schools have been torn apart by war.
