THESPIANS put on their running shoes to raise more than £2,000 for cancer charities.

Members of Yeadon-based BrassNeck Theatre supported two charities by running in the Race for Life and the Leeds 10k.

BrassNeck Ladies raised funds for Cancer Research by taking part in the Race for Life at Ripley Castle.

"BrassNeck Theatre is renowned for producing excellent theatre and as a company, we always like to go the extra mile – literally in this case. We have all been or will be affected by cancer at some time in our lives", said team leader, Barbara Catton.

"We are proud and delighted that we now have a growing number of 'BrassNeck Babes' joining us in the Race for Life and our total this year was the magnificent sum of £1,421."

Whilst the ladies were warming up for their race, chairman Richard Lloyd was running the Leeds 10k for Myeloma UK, raising a total of £640.

Richard will be appearing in Spamalot at Yeadon Town Hall from November 15 to 19. Tickets can be booked at www.brassnecktheatre.com or on 0113 2505011.
