AN EVENING of musical entertainment takes place next month to raise funds for the long running campaign for a footbridge over the River Wharfe at Burley-in-Wharfedale.

The evening of contemporary and classical music and song takes place in St Mary's Parish Church in Burley, on Thursday, October 6, starting at 7.30pm.

The event has been arranged by the Burley Bridge Association (BBA) and will feature a number of talented musicians and singers who either walk with Lower Wharfedale Ramblers, or who are friends of members.

Chairman of the BBA Peter Bayer said: "We were delighted with last year's concert and when when the musicians suggested a second event we were keen to arrange it."

The evening, which is sponsored by Majestic Wine Warehouses Ltd, will feature guitar music by The Highly Strung Trio, soprano Kathy White, and music for flute, cello and piano performed by John Restorick, Nadine Wharton and Elizabeth Goddard.

Tickets cost £10 and can be obtained from The Coffee Station, 70 Main Street, Burley-in-Wharfedale, or from Madeline on 01943 863623. A glass of wine or soft drink is included in the price of admission.
