POOL-IN-WHARFEDALE has taken a step closer to getting 20mph speed limits for Main Street and Arthington Lane.

Adel and Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson said:“I am pleased that progress has now been made to include Main Street and Arthington Lane in the proposed 20mph speed limit for Pool. It has taken some time to get to this point because it seemed that Main Street and Arthington Lane would not be included, the reason given was that A-roads could not have 20mph speed limits but residents were able to give examples of other areas in the Leeds district had managed to do this."

He added:"Further speed surveys have now been requested by Highways after which they can move to have the scheme legally advertised.

"At this point it is really important that residents write in support of the changes to the speed limit and I will let residents know when the official notification starts the consultation process. By law the change has to be advertised through a Traffic Regulation Order which anyone can raise objections to or send supportive comments. All of this evidence is then taken into account by the Highways Board which will make the final decision.”
