SPECIAL dedications to those lost to the Covid pandemic, as well as those in Ukraine who are facing untold horror, mark the return of Otley’s Vintage Transport Extravaganza (OVTE).

Arguably one of the largest and most popular one-day vintage and classic vehicle shows, the event will be staged after a three-year hiatus.

The vintage gathering will be held at Knotford Nook, in Pool Road.

The show which attracts thousands of people is geared up to be a fun-packed event with plenty going on.

Otley councillor and chairman of the OVTE said: “Over the past couple of years we have all lost family and friends and as we have contacted exhibitors, stall holders and helpers, we realise just how much it has affected the community.

“As well as this, the war in Ukraine and the fact that many innocent people are seeking refuge in our town and surrounding areas, we wanted to offer the hand of friendship to our Ukrainian friends.

“This year we are doing something unique in offering any church, community group or charity organisation linked to and raising money for Ukraine a free stall at the event. We are also offering complementary tickets to any displaced Ukrainian families who would like to attend the event.

“I would ask all parties concerned to contact me via the email address: info@ovte.co.uk.

Any other organisation, vehicle owner or anyone who wishes to have a trade stall or car boot, etc and who would like to attend please go on to our website: www.ovte.co.uk where you can download forms and get information about the event, “commented Nigel Francis.

Cllr Francis added: “The OVTE. is a family event with everything from Children’s Amusements to the City of Leeds Pipe Band, from displays and terrier racing to live music, fairground organs, Punch and Judy along with food outlets, trade stands and car boots and other entertainment, but as always the vintage and classic vehicles are the main attraction.”

The show is being held on Sunday, September 11 from 10am to 4pm.

Admission £5, concessions £4, accompanied children under 14, free.
