THE Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club organised a concert given by the renowned Steeton Male Voice Choir in Christchurch on The Grove in Ilkley.

The concert was in aid of the charity “Give a Child a Hope”. The event raised £1,500 for the charity and this will represent much needed money to help children supported by the Matugga Revival Centre in Uganda.

Over 20 years ago the first links between the Revival Centre, Matugga, Uganda and St John’s, Ben Rhydding was established.

In the year 2000, whilst on a Mission to Uganda, Rev Roger Fry was hosted by Pastor Ivan Lugolobi and so was forged a lasting link to this day between St. John’s, Ben Rhydding and the Matugga Revival Centre. From this relationship the charity “Give a Child a Hope” was formed.

Since those early beginnings, Pastor Ivan Lugolobi has worked tirelessly alongside his wife Allen to support the poorest members of his community through the Revival Centre. As Director of the Revival Centre, Ivan oversees its running, including the school and clinic. Allen works alongside Ivan as coordinator of the Champions programme (developed to help support the orphaned and neediest children). Over the years, the centre has grown, with the school now supporting over 650 children of all ages, giving education and a safe home to children who would otherwise not have an opportunity to attend school.

The Rotary Club is most grateful to those who attended the concert and supported this worthy cause.
