FORMER Yorkshire and England star Geoffrey Boycott was the star attraction at The Hawks' season opener at Bolton Abbey.

During the tea interval in the games between the President's XI and the Chairman's XI, Boycott presented the club with the new Jack Swinglehurst Trophy in honour of his father-in-law who was a much-loved life member of the club.

The Chairman's XI batted first and made an impressive 230-7 in their 35 overs. Nineteen-year-old Tom Lester smashed a brilliant 120 which included seven enormous sixes and 13 fours.

Other contributions came in the form of 36 from Tom's half brother Sam Wilkinson and 40 from Tom Burton, with the pick of the President's XI bowling being 3-33 from Will Parker.

Adi Scott made a stylish 67 for the President's XI while Bill Holdsworth scored 35, Josh Dracup (25) and Jason Scott (25) in a total of 225 all out.
