GUISELEY’S coaching team have agreed new terms to remain at Nethermoor and guide the club in its second season in the top tier of non-league football.

Manager Mark Bower, his assistant Danny Boshell, physio Martin Stringfellow and goalkeeping coach Steve Dickinson have already started planning for the new campaign.

Last season’s top scorer Adam Boyes and 20-year-old goalkeeper Dan Atkinson have followed striker Oli Johnson and defender Danny Lowe in extending their spells with the Lions.

And Bower, who last week released Ryan Toulson, Ben Parker, Gavin Rothery, Danny Hall, Liam Dickinson, Nicky Boshell, Oliver Norburn and James Hurst, is in talks with Will Hatfield, Luke Porritt, Steven Drench, Adam Smith and player of the year Rob Atkinson about new terms.

He has also identified a number of transfer targets as he seeks to bolster his squad further.

Bower said: “We are obviously delighted to keep Oli, Danny, Adam and Dan and are now looking to push on and get more players signed up.

“Hopefully we can keep more of the players who did well for us last year and add to that with some good quality to push the club forward.

“Discussions have been going on with targets for a little while now and the fact they have seen us competing well in the league during the past season can only help.

“That probably stands us in better stead than last season when we were still digesting the promotion and had not really got plans in place for getting promoted. But we’ve got a couple of extra weeks this year to prepare and build on what we’ve done. Hopefully that experience we’ve had in the past season, and people seeing us in the league, gives the club more credibility.

“We came up last year via the play-offs and were behind everyone else in terms of planning and maybe made one or two rush decisions.

“But we’re more experienced now and people know more about us, so that stands us in a better position.”
