BURLEY'S all-rounder Nick Brook produced a fine individual performance to shatter Horsforth's unbeaten record on a day when the weather disrupted many matches.

He top scored with an unbeaten 59 as his side made 166-8 before making his presence felt with the ball.

Brook ran out danger man Byron Boshoff for 36 in addition to taking 4-16 as Horsforth were bowled out for 123.

Their 43-run defeat saw Horsforth lose top spot to Beckwithshaw who beat bottom team Steeton by 108 runs. John Inglis made 107 as his side scored 225-2 before bowling out Steeton for 117 with Eugene Burzler taking 5-33.

Champions Otley were making inroads into Bilton's 2017 when rain brought their match to an early end. Skipper James Davies was unbeaten on 59 in an Otley score of 118-2.

Pool are still searching for their first win after suffering a 13-run defeat against North Leeds. John Goldthorp (40) and Jake Zjilinszky (36) top scored as they made 170 in reply to a North Leeds total of 183-5.

Nathan Goldthorp scored 63 as Rawdon reached 137 and they looked on the way to victory as Andrew Doidge (4-30) and Kuda Samunderu (3-6) reduced Ilkley to 67-7 but a stubborn, unbeaten partnership lasting seven overs between Paul Dover and Dave Pennett helped Ilkley hang on and the rain finally saved them.

On a day when rain shortened or stopped most games, there were some bowling performances that will have batsmen waking in the night in a cold sweat, not least in Division Three.

Leading the way was Tong Park Esholt’s Will Murray and Mahir Ali who stopped Green Lane in their tracks for just 31 runs.

Gareth Wilkinson (49no) helped Park to 141-8 then Murray picked up 5-14 and Ali 5-17, which included a hat-trick and two in two in consecutive overs.

At one stage it looked as though Olicanian would dismiss Alwoodley even more cheaply but the visitors scrambled to 45 thanks to a defiant 30 from the last pair. Chris Wheeler (69) top scored in Olicanian’s 173-5 before Ed Broadley (5-29) and Sajeed Ijaz (4-10) wreaked havoc.

Zarshad Khan marked his move to Menston by masterminding the destruction of his former club Silsden. His undefeated 31 helped Menston to 193-7 and he then combined with Nadeem Hanif (4-26) and took 3-20 as Silsden crashed out for 59.

Three wickets each from Jonathan Postle and Mark McEneaney restricted Bolton Villas to 117 and even though Sam Lawrence picked up three quick wickets, Sam Dobson (72no) saw leaders Hall Park maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

Mike Truswell followed up last week’s 105no with 123no in 84 balls, which included 12 fours and six sixes, as Division Two leaders Guiseley reached 204-7 in 33 overs. Ben Rhydding were struggling at 104-5 when the game was abandoned.

Addingham moved up to second place with a 68-run win over Calverley, Ted Haggas taking 4-9 as the visitors were dismissed for 104.

The rain also halted Harden’s chase of Follifoot’s 177-7 which included a 4-46 spell from Paul Quinlan.

Tom Cummins hit a half century in the reply but a halt was called with Harden on 91-2.

Pieter Coetzer (5-45) helped restrict Knaresborough to 165 but Skipton were looking in danger at 109-6 when the game was abandoned.
