BURLEY-IN-WHARFEDALE were unsuccessful in a brave attempt to beat undefeated Aire-Wharfe League leaders Collingham & Linton in rain-affected game on Saturday.

Hosts Burley set a target of 181-6 from 38 overs, courtesy of runs by Nicky Bulcock (38no), Gabe Field (35), Redmond Bolton (33) and Nicholas Brook (26). Charlie Swallow took 3-35 Collingham.

The visitors got off to a shaky start in reply, when Shane Etherington got Collingham opener Gregory Brown out for a duck and No 3 Jack Harrison for 6.

But the other opener Leo Johnson (33) repaired the damage by playing a steady innings of 33 off 53 balls. He and Swallow put on a third-wicket partnership of 63 before Bulcock got with a Johnson on a caught and bowled.

Two more wickets by Burley saw Collingham on 82-5, but Swallow (57no), Ed Hayhurst (36) and Jonathan Haslem (11no) saw the visitors to victory on a revised target of 165. Etherington took 3-25 and Bulcock 2-30 for Burley.

Rawdon got a win at Cross Green, setting a target of 207-4 from 32 overs.Wicketkeeper James Dobson hit an impressive 97 from 77 balls and Joe Smith (43no) and Richard Porter (29no) were the other top scorers for Rawdon while Zachary Parr took 2-40 for Otley.

Otley were on 33-3 when Josh Atkinson (27) and Oliver Halliday (26) stabilised the innings and put on a 54-run partnership. Both fell with the score on 87.

George Powell took 4-50 to put Otley on 126-8 before Sam Kellett hit a blistering 53 from 28 balls, but he ran out of partners as Rawdon held on to win by 20 runs.

Saltaire moved level on points with 54-run victory at third-placed North Leeds in a rain-shortened 20-over match.

Four Saltaire batters scored in the twenties and Javid Usama (4-14) and Sajad Ali (3-13) did the damage with the ball.

Addingham picked up 17 points at home to Pool, scoring 174-5 from 35 overs, Ricky Palacio striking 53 from 45 balls and Will Atkins scoring 41. Krutik Patel (76 from 71 balls) top scored in Pool’s reply but regular wickets meant the visitors fell short at 165 all out, James Nixon taking 4-41 for Addingham.

Dave Hester blasted an unbeaten 125 from 96 balls to lead Tong Park Esholt 256-2 in 32 overs against New Rover . Despite a valiant effort, the away team were dismissed for 207 in replay.

The match featuring Hall Park at Bilton was called off due to the weather with no ball being bowled.

Adel remained top of Division Two with an 82-run win at home against bottom side Kirkstall Educational. They scored 252-7 in 32 overs with Joe Harrison top scoring with 95no. Kirkstall only managed 150-9 in reply.

In other action, fourth placed Ilkley lost a rain-affected encounter at Follifoot. They were put in and scored 211-5 in 28 overs due to excellent knocks by Robbie Murray (94) and Alex Bailey (62). Nat Cutts led the way for Follifoot who had a revised target of 225, which they reached with eight balls to spare.

Fellow Ilkley side Olicanian had it all to do to try and chase down a target of 307-2 set by Beckwithshaw, who were led by Ross Sedgley’s knock of 103. Olicanian scored 202-7 but came up 105 runs short.
